Destination wedding venue tour and retreat for couples “Planning for Paradise” in Florida!

Posted on by admin

This press release came across my email this week and I thought it was such a groovy idea that I wanted to share it:  A wedding venue tour along the beaches of Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast.  Tanya Necole Events is a full-service event planning company, serving the Emerald Coast of Florida from Destin to Tallahassee.

The Florida panhandle has long been ranked as a top destination wedding location. With press in such well-known publications at Martha Stewart Weddings, The Knot, Destination Weddings and Honeymoons, and Southern Weddings-it’s no wonder couples flock to the area year after year.

In March, finding the perfect venue will be just a little easier with “Planning for Paradise: A tour of the Emerald Coast’s most sought-after wedding venues”.  This is not your average venue tour. Couples can choose to participate in a romantic leisurely weekend getaway starting on March 9th, which includes the tour, or simply attend the tour on Sunday, March 11th.

Tanya Walker, coordinator, comments; “I’m so excited for these couples, because they will get a rare opportunity to not only visit these exquisite venues in person, but to also fellowship with other couples as well. Knowing that many of them will travel here several times before their actual day, why not offer a relaxing weekend stay as well?”

The tour will visit the towns of Panama City Beach, Carillon Beach, Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Watercolor, Watersound, and Sandestin. All of the destinations have been selected not only due to their popularity but also their unique styles and of course, their locations. There’s something for everyone.

I absolutely loved this couple when I saw them together.  They were so…..giddy and in love!  And when I read her email reply about how they met, their wedding, and what they love about each other…..well, they seem perfect for one another.  Oh, and check Jesse doing a back flip on the beach.  Whoa!

MMATB:  Where are you from and how did you meet?
We met in 9th grade chorus class. We had briefly spoke here and there but on Valentine’s Day Jesse left a carnation on my seat in chorus and when I walked into the classroom I saw it there. My friends told me Jesse had left it. The next day he wrote me a letter with his phone number I called him we talked on the phone for a few days and in school. Then on Feb 24th we went on our first date to see the movie Scream 3 and we’ve been together ever since!

MMATB:  Why did you choose the beaches of NY as your wedding destination?
We LOVE the beach we knew we wanted to get married on the beach we also got engaged on the beach and Gurney’s Inn in Montauk was the absolute perfect venue where we could actually have our feet in the sand and get married right in front of the crashing waves. Also besides Gurney’s Inn being a beautiful wedding venue my parents have a time share there so we have gone every year in September for the past couple of years with my family. We have a lot of memories there so it’s like another home for us and our family. Jesse’s family even joined us a few times. It’s just a very inviting and homey place where you just feel comfortable and you’re right by the water it doesn’t get better then that!

If you had one piece of advice for brides getting married in NY, what would it be?
Doing a lot of things yourself saves money! And since getting married out in Montauk isn’t the most budget friendly we had to save wherever we could so we did a lot of things DIY and it gave everything a more personal touch.  Our save the dates, wedding invitations, placecards, table numbers, and video slideshow we did all ourselves.

What is your favorite thing about Jesse and what is his favorite thing about you?
Ya know…… we just like to have fun! We’re each others best friends we’ve grown up together. We are the people we are today becasue of each other. Jesse is sponteanous and adventourous and I’m more cautious and organized but we balance ech other out and it works perfectly and has for 11 years now. But I think our favorite thing about each other is our passion and drive. We’re both striving to do what we love in life and aren’t going to settle for ordinary we defintely want to live life to the fullest.

What was your favorite design element of the wedding?
I wanted to make sure that all the details and feel of the wedding were true to Jesse and I. I wanted all the guests to look at any part of the wedding from the     ceremony, to a drink selections, to the table arrangement and have them say “yea, that is so Bri and Jesse”!  So that was very important to us to keep it very “us” and have it just about celebrating our love and being together and make sure all our guests are having a great time. But our table numbers we loved the most! It was one of our DIY projects. We took left over invitation paper and painted the numbers on, glued sand around the number to make a little frame then glued shells of all shapes and sizes, beach glass, and starfish around the paper number to form like a little stand. It was quite the task but it came out so beautiful and each table number was unique in its own way made of all different shells that we had collected from the beach.

Congrats Bri and Jesse and best wishes!!

ok, so I’m a little partial to Florida weddings (I’m a native, ya know) and I love the reflection of the boats on the harbor and the sun setting into the boats in the evening.

MMATB:  In terms of an outdoor wedding, what would you suggest a bride consider?

Victoria/Avis:  A bride considering an outdoor event needs to be a little more flexible than most! The possibility of uncooperative weather always exists. For me, a backup plan is essential. During the planning process, I always make sure the wedding vendors have a fully planned rain backup.  While we plan for a perfect day, we are prepared with a backup, that will be just as beautiful.  It is important that you know in advance, what additional costs you will have, should the rain plan be needed.   In most cases, additional tenting to cover outside tables is all that you may need.

Kristina:  Have a back up plan in case of rain/hurricane.  This cannot be stressed enough.  Secondly, consider the ocean breeze/wind when choosing a hairstyle for your beach ceremony (it can get quite strong).

Jessica:  There is lots of things to consider when you choose to have an out door wedding, weather is a key factor but not the only thing. Consider the time of year/ season, location, and time of day.  Of course consider having a back up plan. A planner is an important key to destination weddings they will ensure your event runs as smooth as possible.

MMATB:  How many site visits are recommended for a destination wedding and what is the standard procedure for these visits? Victoria/Avis:   After you have researched the possibilities for your wedding venues, visited the sites, made your decision, and selected the professional  who will be your fairy godmother, it’s time for the planning process to begin!

For out of town brides, we are fully prepared to setup vendors meetings and plan most of the wedding in one trip. On average we see our couples only twice before the wedding. Our vendors are very skilled with creating the ambiance the couple have in mind.  Once we have the “game plan” we refine the details via phone and email.  When the couple arrives, a final meeting to go over all the details, makes for a flawless wedding day!

Kristina:  In the world we live in today, the internet can provide a lot of information, therefore it allows limiting the number of visits required.  Hiring a local wedding coordinator who can guide you through all the intricacies of beach wedding planning would help minimize visits as well as decrease stress. He/she will be able to share their expertize and be your local guide throughout the planning process.

Jessica:  One to two visits should be perfect, as long as you have a professional planner. The first visit should be used to secure your planner, venue and meet with vendors. The second visit should be used to finish securing vendors that were not secured during the first visit.   Plan to do a walk-through of the venue if needed, and finalizing items that can’t be done over the phone or email.

MMATB:  If you were to offer one piece of advice for destination brides, what would it be?

Victoria/Avis:

Victoria’s advice  -Don’t compromise your wedding vision to please others.  Always follow your heart.

Avis’ advice – enjoy the experience of your destination location,  find great people, relax and have fun!

Kristina:  My biggest piece of advice would be to stay organized. It will save you time and decrease stress.

Jessica:  Seek professional help! Secure professional vendors and a planner you can trust, that you feel confident in. Once you do this RELAX these vendors are professionals and will ensure your wedding comes together seamlessly. Just remember the most important thing is that the two of you are married at the end of the day and your family is there to celebrate.

Coreen and Steven {Blaine, Washington}

Date:  August 20, 2011

Photographer:  Alexandra Hunt Photography

Venue:  Semiahmoo Resort

High school sweethearts, Coreen and Steven met and fell in love as young teenagers, and finally tied the knot eleven years later, at Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, Washington. Both Canadian, they grew up across the Bay in Whiterock, BC, but traveled to the beautiful city of Blaine for their  destination beach wedding. Coreen and her family put together beautiful details for her navy-lime-white preppy wedding: a delicious (homemade!) cookie bar with rustic burlap signage, hand-sewn coordinating navy and lime dinner napkins, a twine and card seating chart strung up in a navy frame, calligraphic place cards, and more! Over 60 white paper lanterns lit up the marquis tent on the pier, and as night fell, Coreen and Steven danced to ‘Marry Me’ by Train. The ceremony was held on the lawn at the edge of the beach, overlooking the same Bay where Coreen and Steven had grown up together – but on the other side. Ceremony decorations were simple, including a wood arch and simple, sky blue chiffon swagging. Coreen hand-made the gorgeous invitation suite herself! Coreen wore a gorgeous ivory lace gown, with classic pearls, a hand-made gem waist tie, sparkly gold ballet flats and her mother’s veil. Her bridesmaids, looking like they stepped out of a J Crew catalog, wore adorable navy and white polka-dotted, ruffled edge short dresses and carried mixed bouquets of white dahlias, roses, freesias, and green kermit mums (similar to Coreen’s bridal bouquet). The groom and groomsmen wore khaki suits as a nod to the khaki suit that Coreen’s father wore at his wedding. Navy striped ties and green kermit mum boutonnieres completed the fresh look.

I am in awe of anyone that is crafty.  To see these decorations and know the bride and her family made them all, is beyond me!  Can someone teach me to be this crafty??!!!
