Officiant- Charlie’s Pueblo
I was really excited to see this wedding come across my plate a few weeks ago. I vacationed in Tulum in the spring of this year. While vacationing, I walked along the beach and witnessed a few weddings just like these. I wanted to stop and watch but tried to casually observe so that I would not come across as a wedding stalker!! I wish I knew the words the Officiant was saying. Seemed so tribal and ritualistic that I loved it without even hearing the words. And I loved the wedding guests circling the couple as they exchanged vows. Feels very powerful. And should my boyfriend every propose- (ahem: in case he’s reading this), Tulum was on our own wedding list.
The following day, the couple had a Trash the Dress session inside the cenotes. Very cool!
See the brides’s story following the photos.

Where are you from and how did you meet?
At the time that we met, Todd lived in Phoenix and I lived in Santa Monica. However, I had grown up in AZ and he had grown in CA, so we had both been to the same places as kids and done similar things. We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party.
Why did you choose Tulum as your wedding destination?
We wanted to get married on a white sand beach, outside of the country. Neither of us are fans of chain hotels and wanted something unique. When we learned of Tulum it sounded idyllic. I decided to visit. My goal was to fly into Cancun and drive south until I couldn’t see any buildings from the beach. I ended up in Tulum.
If you had one piece of advice for brides getting married in Mexico, what would it be?
Be flexible, and make the trip about spending time with your family.
Was it difficult to plan internationally?
Absolutely, especially at a location that runs off of sattelite internet and solar powered electricity.
What was your favorite element of the wedding (food, design, entertainment)?
We were treated like royalty. All of our vendors were genuine people who just wanted to please us. We were in a unique, amazing location and everyone involved had a once in a life time experience.
